Summer Camp 2022 - What's In A Name?

"What's In A Name?" is the theme for our summer camp experience this year! We'll learn about Christ's grace when we make mistakes and how God's love greets us when we open our hearts. As we grown, learn, and discover our true self, we define our own name and found our place as a child of God.

Downers Grove First United Methodist Church is offering this summer camp experience for children and youth from 2nd to 9th grade at the Wesley Woods Retreat Center, Williams Bay, WI from June 27-30. The grade listed is the grade the student will be entering in the fall of 2022.

Camp lasts only one week - but what campers take home can last a lifetime! Camp offers children and youth with the opportunity for fellowship with other children, youth, and adults from the church and community. It offers time to experience God's creation while exploring nature. Camp is also a wonderful chance to experience Christian community and develop skills for Christian living.

Space is limited, so register early! Registration is online this year. Please click here for the Registration form and to find out more about the camp.

Registration deadline: June 15

A nonrefundable $50 deposit is due at the time of registration with payment in full due by June 25. Scholarships and payment plans are available.

Children's Sabbath and Backpack Blessing Sunday

Join us for Children's Sabbath!
This Sunday, August 22

Celebrate children and youth all over the world at our worship services this Sunday! A wonderful service is planned with music provided by children and youth from our congregation, a blessing of backpacks, school supply item collection, and a special message at our 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. worship services.

If you are able, please bring school supplies to church with you. Children will be collecting items from members in the congregation during the service, so please keep the items in the pew with you. All school supplies will be donated to Kids Above All (formerly ChildServ).

A blessing of the backpacks is another special feature of our worship services this week. All students of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks and school bags to be blessed at the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services. It's a wonderful way to get the new school year off to a great start!

Please plan to join us for our special Sunday and feel free to invite others to participate in this holy Children's Sabbath service. See you Sunday!

Messy Church - August 8, 2021

Hello Messy Friends,

This Sunday, August 8, is HAT DAY at Messy Church.  Everyone is invited to wear any hat they want...a silly hat, a serious hat, a hat with a story, a special hat, etc.   Our story and crafts for the day will focus on all the hats we wear.

Please come to the gym at 11:00 AM for Messy Church.  We will start with a story and short worship then move into our craft time.  There will be no lunch served.

Hope to see you at Messy with your hat on.  Also, we will be inside with children, so I ask that everyone wear a face mask.

Thanks and see you at Messy!

Pastor John
