Support Hope's Front Door

Over the past 15 years, Hope’s Front Door (HFD) has provided emergency assistance to those in desperate need who include the unemployed, underemployed, homeless, seniors and disabled…more than 17,000 individuals and their families in Downers Grove and five neighboring villages. After determining their immediate needs through compassionate conversation, clients are helped with food, medical, dental and/or transportation vouchers, plus a clear pathway into the network of social agencies that can assist them with long-lasting changes to end the cycle of living crisis to crisis.

The Missions, Justice & Community work area recently made a donation to HFD. There are a number of ways you can personally support the organization:

  1. Donate school supplies, now through August 20 – drop off in the parlor on Sundays or in the church office.  Needed:  backpacks, 3-ring binders, colored pencils, erasers, glue sticks, highlighters, pens/pencils, pocket folders, crayons, broad-tip markers, fiskars scissors, wide-ruled notebooks. The biggest need for the first distribution day is red pens, pocket folders and notebook paper.
  2. Help sort donated school supplies at HFD on Friday, Aug. 7th.  Call 630-322-9803 to sign up.
  3. Attend a benefit concert, “The Best of Broadway” on August 28, 29 or 30.  Resurrection Players (a Downers Grove Theatre Troupe) will perform a variety of Broadway’s greatest songs from musicals such as Wicked, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, and much more.  (details on website)
  4. Make a donation.
  5. Volunteer your time.
