We are starting a little differently than we have in the past. There will be two rehearsals before the Kick-Off dinner and registration.
First Rehearsals
The first rehearsal is set for Wednesday, August 24 the second on August 31, both at 7:00 pm. All High School students are invited to come check us out.
Kick-Off Dinner and Registration
Our annual Kick-Off dinner and registration will be on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:00 pm.
Pianist needed to company Chapel Choir (high school age youth) for Wednesday night practices, weekly Sunday church services , Christmas Concert, and spring week-long tour. (Nine-month appointment)

We'll leave the DGFUMC parking lot at 8:00 am & return about 11:00 pm. Permission post cards can be found in the church office.
Cost: Please buy your own ticket before we go! You will need money for lunch and dinner.
Drivers: All drivers MUST be over 25 years of age. Parents, we need your help!
Check in times: we don't go around the park as one large group. There will be check in times at 1, 4, and 8 pm. Nick will tell the students where that will happen on the day of the trip. Nick MUST see all students at those times!
First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove is seeking a Youth Choir Director to organize and manage all aspects of its renowned Chapel Choir Program. The responsibilities include but are not limited to rehearsals, the Worship Service, Christmas Concert and the Spring Break Choir tour. The successful candidate will have professional training in music/music education, experience in choral conducting and ideally experience in working with high school age youth. An experienced team of Pastors, adult leaders and church staff will both interface with and support the Chapel Choir Director in his/her musical endeavors.

Volunteers are needed to work the parking lot, volunteers will each work a 3 hour shift. Sign up sheets are in the church office or you can email Nikki at nikki@dgfumc.org. The parking lot will be open on Friday, June 24 from noon to 9pm and then on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 from 6am to 9pm. Please tell all your friends and family to come support the DGFUMC youth and park for only $5.00.
Incoming High School Freshman come join Pastor Greta and Deacon Nick Nicholas at 5:30pm at The Open Door for pizza and Bible study. Afterwards we will have the opportunity to help Rev. John Smoke with Wacky Wednesday.
The Custer Road UMC Sr. High Revelation Choir, from Plano, Texas, are on tour to Chicago, and we are delighted to welcome them to First United on Tuesday, June 14 for a performance of songs from the rock musical Godspell. Under the direction of Rev. Tim Morrison, the choir of more than 100 senior high youth are performing in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma on their 11-day tour. They last visited our church in 2006.
Please come and welcome them as so many churches have welcomed our own Chapel Choir on tour.
