The Chapel Choir Pre Tour concert is this Sunday, March 20 at Gary Memorial UMC in Wheaton IL. The concert is set for 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!!!
For the past ten tears, our Youth InTent program has served our church and community by renting out tents, tables and chairs for graduation, birthday, anniversary and other summer celebrations, as well as neighborhood block parties, weddings and wedding receptions.
DGFUMC youth take care of delivery, set-up and take-down. In return they receive credit toward mission and choir trips.
Our prices are competitive with commercial vendors and benefit a wonderful program. Without revenue from Heritage Fest parking, our Youth InTent program is the largest fundraiser for our youth program. New York City will be the destination for the 2012 Chapel Choir Tour, so we need to generate as many funds as possible.

The scripture lesson for Ash Wednesday is from 2 Corinthians. Paul writes to the Church at Corinth reminding them that Christ promised to help them if they just listened to him. This scripture reminds me that Christ will help even the Church at Downers Grove, that, if we listen, the obstacles will be removed and we will prevail.
Just a reminder: If you ordered a Valentine's Day Cake from the Youth Fundraiser, cakes will be available for pick up on Sunday in the parlor from 9am - 12:30pm.
The Youth of DGFUMC, whether they know it or not, are in the mission field all the time, everyday. Just as we all are. Mission no longer means simply picking up a hammer, drill, screw driver, paint brush or other tool and using it to the best of your ability to repair something. Mission is about how we act in public. How people see us. How we accept others. Showing the love of Christ to those in the church and those we meet on the street, at work and at school.
On Sunday afternoon, February 27, Deacon Wes Dorr and Breanne Dahl, both from the United Church of Rogers Park, will meet with students in 6th through 12th grade to talk about the mission and ministry of the church they serve. This summer both our Jr. High and High School mission teams will be working with United Church of Rogers Park. The afternoon starts with lunch at 12:15PM.
