The Youth Ministry Program of First United Methodist Church in Downers Grove seeks to provide opportunities to grow in faith, connect with others, and nurture service oriented individuals to live out Christ's love in the world. We provide a number of opportunities for youth in the community, including the following:

  1. The Chapel Choir is a Youth Choir for students grades 9 - 12 and has been a tradition in this church for decades. The choir rehearses every Wednesday night throughout the school year and sings every Sunday at the 9:30 service. The choir year is highlighted by an annual Choir Tour, usually during Spring Break, in which the Choir travels to a destination in the United States singing in churches throughout the tour and having a great time together.
  2. Onward Bound is our confirmation preparation program for 7th and 8th graders. We meet during the school year to discuss various aspects of faith in order to prepare students to become full members of the church. Students attend classes on Wednesday nights, volunteer with our Sunday School program, acolyte, sing in the Connection Choir, or help set up with PADS. Registration costs help cover curriculum materials and the cost of food for Wednesday nights.
  1. Ignite! is a Sunday night program that meets 2-3 times a month. This gathering is for students in grades 7-12. Ignite Youth Group includes a game, snack time, worship, and a lesson. Ignite also includes a variety of fellowship, volunteering and retreat type activities such as: Lock-Ins, Laser Tag, the 30-Hour Famine, Movie Nights, Outreach Events, Summer Mission Trips, and more. Registration is free!

Please hand in registration forms to the church office or mail them to First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
