Youth InTent: Tent Rentals

Youth In TentFor nearly two decades, our Youth InTent program has served our church and community by renting out tents, tables and chairs for graduation, birthday, anniversary and other summer celebrations, as well as neighborhood block parties, weddings and wedding receptions.

This program is no longer active. We do rent out tables and chairs, but do not deliver. For prices and information please contact Don Dunham with any questions.

African Children's Choir Live in Concert

We are delighted to announce that the world famous African Children’s Choir will be performing at DGFUMC on Wednesday September 25 at 7:00 p.m. This family friendly, immersive experience will leave you inspired as the Choir performs your favorite hymns with African cultural sounds in their new program.

The children melt the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles, beautiful voices and lively African songs and dances. The program features well-loved songs, Gospel spirituals and contemporary favorites. In spite of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are radiant with hope, musically gifted and wonderfully entertaining.

The primary goal of the African Children’s Choir is to raise awareness of the need of destitute children in Africa and to raise funds for continued development and support of the African Children’s Choir programs. The Choir’s international educational endeavor provides unique training for the children. With a focus on education as a means for change, the Choir is currently caring for underprivileged and destitute children throughout Africa. These are children who could have lost all hope, but have overcome their circumstances and now are making a positive impact on society. Once Choir members have completed a concert tour, they
will return back to Uganda with the tools necessary for bettering their future.

The Chapel Choir is a youth choir for students grades 9 - 12 and has been a tradition in this church for decades. The choir rehearses every Wednesday night throughout the school year and sings every Sunday at the 9:30 service. The choir year is highlighted by an annual Choir Tour, usually during Spring Break but in the summer in 2020, in which the Choir travels to a destination in the United States singing in churches throughout the tour and having a great time together.

Our Confirmation preparation program is designed for 7th and 8th graders. We meet during the school year to discuss various aspects of faith in order to prepare students to become full members of the church. Students attend classes on Sundays, volunteer with our Sunday School program, acolyte, sing in the Connection Choir, or help set up with PADS. Registration costs help cover curriculum materials and the cost of food and activities.

Youth & Parents Confirmation Registration & Information Meeting

Youth and parents of 7th and 8th graders are invited to a Confirmation Registration and Info Meeting on either Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. or Sunday, August 25 at 4:00 p.m. We will provide information about the coming year and register for Confirmation class at this time. You need only attend one of these two meetings.

The meetings will provide an overview of the schedule, an introduction to the curriclum, provide a list of required commitments, and more. Please bring a completed Permission and Emergency Information Form with you to a meeting.
