The Youth Ministry Program of First United Methodist Church in Downers Grove seeks to provide opportunities to grow in faith, connect with others, and nurture service oriented individuals to live out Christ's love in the world. We provide a number of opportunities for youth in the community.

Chapel Choir Spring Break Pre-Tour Concert

Senior High Mission Trip to Red Lake, MN

Our Senior High group is going on it's annual Mission Trip. This year we are going to Red Lake Reservation, Minnesota, through Group Workcamps. At Workcamps, teenagers come together to serve individuals and communities while building strong, long-lasting relationships with their friends and youth leaders. In six short days, hundreds of teenagers from youth groups across the country repair and transform homes while growing closer to Jesus.

Ash Wednesday

Ash WednesdayAll are invited to start the Lenten season by attending our Ash Wednesday service from 7pm-8pm on February 14. This service will be held in the Sanctuary.

Nicole Snyder will be preaching, and the Connection Choir will be singing.

Chapel Choir Christmas Concert

Please join the Chapel Choir as they present their Christmas Concert, A Little Bit of Hope. This program of uplifting holiday sounds will be directed by Nick Loos and accompanied by Kevin Zehme.

Admission is free, but donations are sincerely appreciated. All money raised supports the Chapel Choir program and their Spring Break Tour as they share their gift of music and spread the word of the Gospel through their music. 

We encourage you to invite family, friends, and neighbors as we rejoice in the birth of our Lord and Savior with this program of holiday music.

Sleep Out Saturday

Ignite Youth Ministry participation in Bridge Communities' Homeless Awareness Event‎

In conjunction with the Youth Ministry at First Congregational United Church of Christ we will be sleeping out at Fishel Park in support of Bridge Communities and their mission to help DuPage County homeless families! If conditions are too cold or wet, we may head into the Open Door Youth Center or the Youth Room of First Congregational UCC.

Schedule:

5PM: Meet at the Open Door to drive out to Glen Ellyn
5:30: Drive to Glen Ellyn for Sleep Out Saturday Rally
9PM: Return to Church and head over to Fishel Park to Sleep out with First Congregational UCC
7AM: Breakfast at First Congregational UCC
8AM: Return to DGFUMC

Bring:

Tent, warm sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping mat (optional), toiletries for morning,
Towel & shower items (optional: showers available at our church)
