Day 4 & 5
After two days in NYC we are in the road for the return leg of our trip. According to our pedometers we walked more than 24 miles in two days and that doesn't include all the miles we spent on the subway. Our time in NYC started with a ride into Manhattan on the Staten Island Ferry after which we toured the 9/11 Memorial and One World Trade Center.
From there we split up into groups and explored the city. Some of the groups went to China Town and Little Italy, others went to Time Square to explore the theatre district. Other activities for some included a subway ride into Brooklyn, lunch in an area called DUMBO and a walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge. A group that left at 5:30 AM to stand outside GMA with their signs for everyone to see.
New York as a city is so very very different than Chicago. From the people, street vendors, food, trash, and just the feel you get standing in the center of Times Square there is nothing like it in Chicago. It truly is the city that never sleeps.
