Sonshine Choir Visits FUMC!

We had the priviledge of hosting the Sonshine Choir from Brentwood (TN) UMC as they performed a wonderful concert on July 14 followed by beautiful anthems at our worship services the next day. They provided a real gift through their music and spirit and our congregation provided them a gift through our generosity of food, lodging, and attendance. The 100 youth were housed by 34 incredible families. Please enjoy some of the pictures from their visit!

Sonshine Choir Housing Needs

Many people have already generously offered to help accommodate students from the 100-strong Sonshine Choir from Brentwood United Methodist Church, TN, who are giving a concert at DGFUMC on July 14. However, we still need a few more families willing to host two or more students on Saturday night after the concert. If you are able to do so, please contact Don Dunham as soon as possible. Thank you!

Ignite Sunday Service!

For those who have been coming to Ignite all year long, you'll notice Sunday, June 10th is a reversal of roles! Students will have the opportunity to host, serve, and enjoy a community meal with the visiting choir from Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church. After the meal, we'll head to the sanctuary and enjoy the show!

If you're interested in meeting new people and hearing a great concert, please contact Katie. Hope to see you all there :)

DGFUMC Scholarship Fund

We know that this is the time of year when everyorganization is asking for donations. Well the DGFUMC college scholarship fund is doing the same thing. What is the scholarship fund and who is helped by it? Three separate funds were started over 20 years ago and those gifts have now been used up, however we continue to want to help college students. In August, we present small gifts to 4 students who have been active in ministries of DGFUMC. If each family would give $5 in honor of each of their children now and $5 on that child’s birthday, we would have thousands of dollars to give out each year. Please consider giving to this fund.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please fill out the form below and return it to the church office by July 1.

Housing Needed for Visiting Choirs

FUMC will be hosting two youth choirs this summer and host families will be needed for both. Chapel Choir members have enjoyed their experiences with host families during tour over the years, so now it's our turn to provide some hospitality.

The Celebration Singers and Ringers from Church of the Saviour UMC in Cincinatti will present a concert on Sunday, June 10. Overnight housing will be needed that evening for approximately 41 youth and 8 adults.

The Sonshine Choir from Brentwood (TN) UMC will be here Saturday, July 14. They will present a concert that evening and then sing at both worship services the following morning. Housing will be needed for approximately 100 youth.

We are currently looking for housing for the Celebration Singers and Ringers on June 10. If you have available beds please contact Katie Bartholomew or Don Dunham.

Reception for Katie Bartholomew

Katie BartholomewPlease plan to stay after church next Sunday, May 20, to officially welcome our new Youth Minister, Katie Bartholomew. You can read more about her here, but now you can come to meet her in person.
