Life that is Truly Life

Tomorrow morning, 50 plus people will be gathering in the Fellowship Hall for a breakfast to honor and thank those who volunteer to help with worship services - from the parking lot welcoming team, to greeters, ushers, scripture readers, sound board crew members - and the list goes on.

This event reminds me how important worship is - it's our foundational action in the Body of Christ, connecting us with God and with each other. It reminds me how many people work together so that we can focus on scripture and prayer and renewal in worship. And it reminds me how good it is to say "thank you."

This Sunday at church, or during the coming week at church events, make a point of noticing someone who is serving in some way that honors Christ; strengthens the congregation in some small, important way; or makes things a little easier, or more meaningful, for you. And express your thankfulness - let them know you see the gift they are giving.

Our scripture focus in worship on Sunday, March 1, will be Jesus' call to the kind of discipleship that dares to face the cross, and in so doing, discovers Life.  We will join together in Holy Communion at each service, remembering and receiving Christ's empowering presence here and now to live "that life that is truly life."  (1 Timothy 6:19)
