United Women in Faith

The mission of the United Women in Faith/UWF (previously United Methodist Women) is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Membership in UWF is open to all women of the church. We invite you to join us anytime.

Meetings

Mary Elizabeth Circle

Meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Chapel Hall at 1:00pm. Childcare will be provided upon request.

Ruth Circle

Meets on the fourth Thursday of every month in Chapel Hall at 12:45pm. Childcare will be provided upon request.

Sarah Circle

Meets on the fourth Monday of every month in Room 213 at 7:00pm.

Purchase With A Purpose

Purchase With A Purpose is our year round program where we make gift cards, redeemable at many local stores and restaurants, available for purchase in the Parlor on any Sunday morning. They may be used by the purchaser or given as gifts. For every gift card sold, a percentage is earned by the United Methodist Women to fund their ongoing mission.

Stop by the Purchase With a Purpose table on Sunday mornings in the parlor to place an order or buy from our regular inventory of cards including Amazon, Home Depot, iTunes, Jewel, Kohl’s, Mariano’s, Meijer, Panera Bread, Speedway Gas, Starbuck's, Target, Walgreens and Walmart.

The order form is regularly updated with new vendors and restaurants that have opened in the area. If you don't see the gift card that you want visit www.shopwithscrip.com click on vendor list and if you find something you'd like to order write it on the order form.

Take advantage of the convenience of ordering online from home at www.shopwithscrip.com. You can buy your usual gift cards and pick them up on Sunday, buy a gift card via email or even reload money onto a card already purchased. If you would like an account, you need an enrollment code and it will take a few days to set up direct debit from your bank account so ask Ina at inamairi@mac.com if you are interested

The Benefit Mobile APP for your smart phone is another very convenient way to buy gift cards as and when you need them. Download the APP, register with First United Methodist Downers Grove, Purchase With A Purpose and set up your bank account for direct debit or a credit card. Many retailers allow you to buy the exact amount of your bill at the checkout so you never have to carry a balance on the card.
