Pastors' Friday Reflections

Two grade-school aged brothers brought their Imagine No Malaria (INM) can to me last Sunday, Rally Day. It was filled to the top with coins they had collected over the summer, and they were eager to turn their money in so it could begin to do the life-saving work for which it was intended.

There are many other children, teens, and adults in our congregation who share that eagerness of pooling our saved incidental money for INM. This Sunday, September 14, we'll do just that!

Pastor John Smoke will bring a large jar to the Chapel for the opening time of the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour.  Students who bring their INM cans on Sunday will be able to pour the contents into the larger jar - and those who bring an INM can will receive one of those helping hands Pastor John showed us as worship last Sunday.

Then, those who are attending Messy Church in the gym at the 11:00 a.m. hour will be invited to pour the contents of their INM cans into the large jar, as well.

We'll plan to make every second Sunday of the months during the school year a Sunday to bring in our filled INM jars, and combine our gifts to Make a Difference.

This Sunday in worship, we'll continue in the Book of Philippians, looking at Philippians 1:12-27, where Paul, even in prison, rejoices at the opportunities he has to "speak up" in courage, love and faithfulness. His words help us reflect on how we may be called, right where we are, to speak up with a needed word.
