Pastors' Friday Reflections

A heart filled with love always has something to give.

I have a little cross-stitch of this quote in my house - and like being reminded of it now and then. Whether I feel short on time, or short on funds, or short on energy, those words encourage to me to see beyond what I think I'm lacking, and imagine what could be possible with what I have.

The earliest Christians were labeled as people with "glad and generous hearts."  Most of them were not well-to-do - but they were willing to see what their small gifts could do when shared in love. And the results were powerful - the needs of all in their community were met.

The freedom to live with a "glad a generous heart" is still ours as Christians. This Sunday, we'll look at Giving with Head, Hand, and Heart, a message given by Jim and drawn from 2 Corinthians 8:7-15.

And the week ahead offers several ways to share our gifts as a faith community and make a difference for others -  S.O.S. work and fellowship tomorrow, the Crop Walk Sunday afternoon, the Blessing Bag assembly and fellowship dinner Wednesday evening, and our special "Together at 10" service, Choir dedication, and Pancake Breakfast next Sunday, October 26.
