The Promise of "God with Us"
Our weather hasn't been too difficult yet this December, but I'm still looking forward to "the promise" - our weather forecasters promise that by Sunday we will be having temperatures in the high 40's. We'll see if they are right!
Whatever the weather, I am looking forward to another kind of "promise" - the promise of "God with Us" that we celebrate this season and that we will receive in special ways this Sunday, December 14.
At 8:15, we will share in a Service of Christmas Peace in the Chapel. This will be a reflective worship time especially offered for people who have experienced loss during the past months. "God is with us" - in sorrow and challenge as well as in easier times.
At 9:30 and 11:00, our Chancel Choir will lead the worship services in the sanctuary as they present Stella Natalis, a Christmas Cantata that incorporates music reflective of many traditions. "God is with us" - in familiar ways and in ways that we have yet to discover.
Each of our worship services this Sunday would be ideal to invite a friend or neighbor to attend along with you. Is there someone in your life who would love to hear this promise - "God is with us" - spoken (or sung) to their heart?
