The Evening Time of Our Lives

This month we have watched in sometimes shock and sometimes awe at how nature can inspire both fear and wonder in us. We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Due to the overwhelming response to the UMCOR donation challenge, the Mission, Justice and Community work area is once again offering a matching grant challenge of up to $2,500 for donations to disaster relief through UMCOR made starting this Sunday through the end of September. Thank you for your support of this important ministry.

This Sunday will mark the beginning of my three part sermon series on David. To start I will use the scripture 1 Kings 1:23-30 to examine how we cope with the evening time of our lives. The following weeks I will look at the afternoon and morning times.

Make sure you stop by the Parlor this Sunday as we will have many groups with opportunities to get involved: sign-up sheets for CROP Walk and PADS volunteers; tickets sales for the Encore! concert; Julie Stone will have cookies for sale to benefit Bridge; MJC will be collecting donations for UMCOR; and Health and Wellness will be highlighting their upcoming small groups.

We hope to see you there!
