Friday Night at the Movies
"Two unlikely prospectors share the same wife" in No Name City, a miner's town during the California Gold Rush. So goes the intriguing initial description of Paint Your Wagon, a 1969 western musical based on the broadway show of the same name. Starring Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood and Jean Seberg, this movie brings us much-loved Lerner and Loewe songs such as They Call the Wind Mariah and Wandrin' Star as it tells the tale of the partnership of Ben Rumson (Marvin) and Pardner (Eastwood) and their unlikely union with mutual wife Elizabeth (Seberg). Ken Drogemueller will lead our discussion of one of his favorite movies.
