Mwangaza African Children’s Choir

Mwangaza Children's ChoirWe have a wonderful opportunity to be in ministry with and for a children’s choir from Africa. They are touring the USA and will be in Illinois for the month of May. We have the great fortune of being their host for a concert on May 25. They are in need of overnight housing from May 23 to the morning of May 26. 6 homes are needed to host the choir. We understand that 3 nights may be a lot to ask, so if you can host for one or two nights that would be great, too.

Here’s some quick info:

  • You can find information about the Mwangaza Children’s Choir from Uganda, Africa, from their website, http://www.mwangazachoir.org
  • Sleeping arrangements will be 2 homes for 3-4 boys and 4 homes for 3-4 girls. One adult chaperone will stay with each group of children in the host homes. Adult chaperones will need a separate room.
  • 2 children sleeping in a double bed is acceptable.
  • We ask that some houses are pet free.

The children will need dinner on May 23 and 24, breakfast on May 24 and 25. Lunches will provided at the Church. Dietary needs information will follow later. In the morning, the children need to be returned to church at 8AM. And picked up at 5:00PM.

These children are a true blessing and we are so honored to be able to house them. If you are willing to open your homes, please contact Nick Nicholas (630.968.7120x203).

DuPage United Update

DuPage United

DuPage United came together on January 30th to listen to current member institution’s concerns. Those attending were from churches, mosques, synagogues, non-profit agencies, and associations from the greater DuPage county area. Listening sessions where individuals share societal concerns on behalf of the institution they represented were conducted amongst all attending. This was the first step in determining the topics DuPage United members consider supporting in the coming months. The next time DuPage United members meet will be to determine who will lead issues below and strategize together on how to move forward. Please take a look at the issue list and see if you find yourself called to one or two and consider attending the next meeting. Thank you to all who spoke about issues that concerned you enabling them to be voiced at the listening session. Please stay tune for the next meeting date, place, and time.

  • Job creation and Job retraining
  • DuPage zoning issue around religious institutions
  • Interfaith relations
  • Political reform: transparency and accountability
  • Education quality, accessibility, and method of funding (property taxes...)
  • Fair senior housing (raising property taxes, retirement facilities,...)
  • Teen suicide, drug use, and bullying
  • Health care
  • Managing personal debt
  • Immigration
  • Homelessness
