Courage From the Inside Out
Crossing over the threshold into the unknown
May 4, 2013: 9am to 3pm
Adult Education will be hosting this inspirational workshop led by Jeff Ediger. You don't have to have the courage of Martin Luther King Jr., or Ghandi, or Christ. All you need is the courage your own life requires. And that's good news! Because the seeds of it are already planted within you -- you just need to cultivate them.
During this workshop Jeff will help us examine:
- How courage is something we all have, not something just for the gifted few.
- That courage is useful in our everyday lives, not just in the big moments.
- And we'll do some stretching exercises to loosen up our courage muscles. (Don't worry -- nothing too strenuous!)
Participants will also be guided in developing their own, unique "Profile of Courage." And our discussions together will ease the task of en-couraging ourselves by "co-couraging" one another.
A little bit about Jeff Ediger...
He received his doctorate in the Philosophy of Communication at the University of Illinois and pursued postdoctoral studies in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. He has taught at St. Olaf College and North Park Seminary. In 2003, Jeff received a year-long grant from the Lilly Endowment to study the writings of Abraham Heschel focused on exploring the human potential to achieve "significant being." Jeff's study of courage is informed by intensive doctoral training in phenomenological investigation, a sophisticated method for analyzing the direct experience of things like courage. His qualifications for directing this workshop also include his own, ongoing training regime in the School of Life (Chicago Campus).
If you are interested in attending this workshop, please register by Wednesday, May 1. Tickets are $25 in advance (lunch included) and $30 at the door. You may register by filling out the form below (you will be taken to a Paypal page after clicking "Submit") or by calling the church office.
