Parenting in the 21st Century

As every parent of a child or teen in our congregation already knows, parenting in the 21st century is a tremendous challenge (as well as a joy) - one of our most life-impacting opportunities (responsibilities?) (relationships?). This Sunday we'll listen to an image about the parent-child relationship from the Old Testament book of Hosea, and reflect on how it might relate to parenting, or other mentoring relationships, today.

I will focus on Hosea 11, and its rich words, which might make us question our sometimes impoverished preconceptions concerning the Old Testament. Come and hear how the prophet Hosea wrestles with an image of God that might fit with our experience of being parents.

And - a sincere word of thanks to all who have donated to our piano fund. Last Sunday we received gifts of over $11,000 toward the fund, which was explained in last Friday's email Happenings. We are over halfway to our goal! Thanks so much for your support - your contributions will undergird our music program for years and years to come.
