Welcoming our World on Sunday

This Sunday, August 30 we will be "Welcoming the World" our summer theme in some special ways.

At both services, we will celebrate the start of the new preschool year at church, and introduce Nancy Bifulco as the new preschool director. We welcome an important part of the world when we welcome the 3 & 4 year old children from our congregation and community to the ministry of the preschool.

At the 10:00 worship service, we will get a chance to hear from some of our church's youth who "welcomed the world" by taking part in mission experiences this summer - the Sr. high team who served and learned on their mission trip to Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota; and the Sr. and Jr. high team who assisted with the community children's day camp and the weekly community meal at United Church of Rogers Park.

Also at the 10:00 worship service, we will have a special guest, Rev. Amos Oladipo, pastor Lombard Faith UMC and Mandell UMC in Chicago. He will share with us briefly about the healing and prevention made possible so far through our denomination's work in Imagine NO Malaria.

The sermon will be based on Luke 4:16-21 and Acts 1:8, which remind us that as God's people everyday of our lives we are "Sent."
