Father's Day

Father's Day is an opportunity for each of us to show our love and appreciation to those men in our lives who have nurtured and cared for us; a moment to honor our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers and husbands who have guided us through sunny days and stormy nights. This Father's Day my sermon will focus on Luke 8:22-25, which tells the story of Jesus calming a storm. I will reflect on my experience of watching my dad set sail into some stormy weather and focus on how faith, hope and trust help us to negotiate the storms we all face along life's journey.

This Sunday we are pleased to welcome the Crossflame Youth Choir and Orchestra from St Luke's UMC in Hickory, North Carolina to our worship services following a presentation of their full Summer Tour concert, Blessed are the Peacemakers, this Saturday night, June 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.

We will also continue our commitment to the Imagine NO Malaria campaign with members of our Mission, Justice and Community work area on hand to collect your INM cans and any additional donations.

In closing I want to take a moment to thank the S.O.S. crew who redirected some down spouts last Saturday to help water to find a way away from our window wells. Also a word of appreciation to our Environmental Stewardship group for clearing away the weeds in our Chapel garden area last Saturday and Sunday.
