Some gems for living
What a wonderful week of music and hospitality it has been here at DGFUMC! On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the Bridge Board's Encore! Concert. I continue to be awed by the talented musicians that are part of our church family. This benefit concert helps to support our Bridge families as they transition from homelessness to independence. This week also marked the first Tuesday of the season that we staffed our PADS site. Thank you to all the volunteers who help support these important ministries.
This Sunday I will be focusing on Luke 18:1-8, The Parable of the Persistent Widow, the story of a poor, powerless widow who persists in nagging a corrupt, powerful judge to do justice for her. This can be a confusing parable. It took me two days of pondering before I found a surprising angle. Come this Sunday and discover some gems this story might offer to you in the living of these days. We will also celebrate as our third graders receive their bibles at our 9:30 service and, at 11:00, we will welcome a new member and share in a baptism.
