Let up without letting go
This month Mother Nature let fly many arrows from her quiver. From multiple hurricanes, to the recent earthquake in Mexico, to the record heat in our own backyard, we continue to be reminded that life can often be unpredictable and messy.
In worship this Sunday, I will preach on the story of David and Goliath from the scripture 1 Samuel 17. I will use this story to focus on the adolescence in the life of David. This phase of life, too, is often messy and unpredictable. I sometimes feel that is akin to a relay race in which families have one hand on a baton and the young adult is reaching out to receive it. Oftentimes, each struggles with the decision of when to let go and when to not. I will use David's struggle as a young adult to reflect on how we can let up without letting go.
I hope to see you this Sunday.
