Happy Thanksgiving!
"On that day let us gather in sanctuaries dedicated to worship and in homes blessed by family affection to express our gratitude for the glorious gifts of God; and let us earnestly and humbly pray that He will continue to guide and sustain us in the great unfinished tasks of achieving peace, justice, and understanding among all men and nations and of ending misery and suffering wherever they exist."
President John F. Kennedy, Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, November 5, 1963
These words still resonate as strongly today as they did 54 years ago. And even though there is still much work to be done, let us remember to take today as a day for expressing our gratitude for all that we have; for our family, our friends, our faith. I sincerely hope that you all enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving Day.
After recovering from the holiday, I hope you will join us this Sunday morning as we celebrate Christ the King Sunday. My sermon, A King Steps Down, will be from the scripture Luke 23:33-43, which shows the wide scope of Jesus' offer of salvation.
Happy Thanksgiving!
