Which Way Are You Walking?
We have seen and heard things that people do and say that we cannot quite explain, but deep down in our hearts and minds we know why they happen. It may be that we have acted and spoken in similar ways even though we know that to do so goes against the Godly part of us.
We can ask God to show goodness to someone in prayer and then find ourselves tearing them down with the same mouth. Why do we speak this way? Our actions often flow with signs of sweetness toward people that we should care for, giving them healing and life. But, when we find ourselves feeling cranky, we just might act out with some of the most stinging and "salty" gestures that are so hurtful that it seems like we are not the same person, like an orange tree sprouting bitter melon.
However, we happen to be God's people who are sent out with God's love and wisdom to draw those around us into a circle that enhances and supplies them with compassion through self-control and imitating God's mannerisms as a way of life.
Love and wisdom come from God. God gives them freely to those who ask for them and those who want to please God. If you read the portion of the book of 1 Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14, you will get to know a little bit about the famous king from Israel named Solomon, often referred to as the wisest man in the world.
1 Kings 2 and 3, will let you know about an important change in status for Solomon, what God gave to him and instructed him to do. You will find a sort of blueprint on how to please God, but also what God will do for those who follow this guidance for living. Sometimes one Bible passage informs well upon another.
I have always liked this reading from James 3 below. I pray that you will be opened to its truth just as the truth of God's words to Solomon in 1 Kings 2 and 3 can unlock truths that may help integrate the discrepancies in your life.
"Are any of you wise and understanding? Show that your actions are good with a humble lifestyle that comes from wisdom. However, if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, then stop bragging and living in ways that deny the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above. Instead, it is from the earth, natural and demonic. Wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and everything that is evil. What of the wisdom from above? First, it is pure, and then peaceful, gentle, obedient, filled with mercy and good actions, fair, and genuine. Those who make peace sow the seeds of justice by their peaceful acts." James 3:13-18 CEB
