Disciples Sheltering in Place
This Sunday was supposed to be Confirmation Sunday. It is disappointing on many levels not to be able to gather with the young people that are prepared to confirm their faith and celebrate with their families. Confirmation Sunday will still happen, but not yet.
This Sunday, we will continue the Easter story that shows the disciples afraid and "sheltering in place" in the upper room. We know that this was not their permanent situation. As many of us are sheltering in place, we too need to have faith that this is not our permanent situation. There will be joyful parties, worship services, athletic events, and an amazing Easter Sunday when we come back to worship in our building for the first time after COVID 19 - but not yet.
As Christians, we are not to lead our life in fear; however, we should take caution when danger is imminent. Staying home is working and the good news is that the curve is bending. This is not our permanent situation. We need to have patience in the Lord and continue our social distancing.
I look forward to leading worship on Sunday over Zoom and seeing you all. Seeing your faces on Sunday morning and the pictures of families gathered in your living rooms awaiting worship brings me and the rest of our team great joy.
