Celebration Singers Youth Choir Concert

Be sure to join us as we welcome the Celebration Singers Youth Choir from First UMC in Hurst, TX for a Thursday night concert on June 8. The Choir will also be joining us for our 8:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, June 11.

Children's Cantata - A Not So Terrible Parable

Join us on Sunday, April 30 at our 9:30 & 11:00 worship services as the Cherub, Chorister and Connection Children’s Choirs present their cantata of A Not So Terrible Parable – The Mysterious Whodunit about the Good Samaritan. Come and enjoy as the children bring to life the well-known story of The Good Samaritan as a fun, over-the-top whodunit. Clues lead the kids to discover again just how far our Savior would go to rescue helpless sinners.

You won’t want to miss it!

Chancel Choir Spring Cantata - The Gift of Life

Join us on Palm Sunday, April 9 at our 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services as the Chancel Choir, with guest singers and accompanied by a guest orchestra, presents John Rutter’s long-awaited new major work, The Gift of Life. This six-movement choral work is a celebration of the living earth, of creation and of life itself; offering a kaleidoscope of moods from contemplative and prayerful, to majestic and inspirational.

This service will also include the traditional Palm Sunday children’s processional.

Luther College Nordic Choir Concert

Luther College Nordic Choir, one of the top college choirs in the nation, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church.

The performance by the 66-member Nordic Choir is open to the public with no charge for admission, with free-will donations accepted.

The 2017 Nordic Choir tour program includes selections from the following: "O Day Full of Grace" arranged by F. Melius Christiansen, "The Road Home" by Stephen Paulus, and "Always Singing" by Dale Warland, as well as hymn-arrangements, spirituals and the traditional Nordic Choir closing piece "O Lord God" by Pavel Chesnokov.

The concert is part of Nordic Choir's 2017 tour of the Midwest. The choir tours annually and has performed around the world, appearing in Norway, England, Ireland, Germany, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Baltic countries, Mexico and the Caribbean. Nordic Choir has also appeared throughout the United States, performing in such well-known concert halls as Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Most recently, the choir traveled to Italy and performed in Rome, Florence and Venice.

Nordic Choir, founded in 1946, enjoys national and international acclaim as a premier collegiate choral ensemble in the United States. This year's ensemble is directed during January by guest conductor Jeffrey Douma, professor of conducting at Yale University. Douma was preceded by the leadership of Allen Hightower, Craig Arnold and the 57-year tenure of Weston Noble.

Chapel Choir – Practices are underway and you may join at anytime! Come on Wednesdays at 7:00. All high schoolers are welcome! 

Chancel Choir – Join the fun! Practices are underway and are held weekly on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

Children’s Choirs – Rehearsal schedule for each choir is as follows:

      Connection (6th, 7th, 8th Grade) – 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

      Chorister (3rd, 4th, 5th Grade) – 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

Revelation Youth Choir Concert

The Sr. High Revelation Choir from Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas will present their Unity concert at DGFUMC as part of a 10-day tour of the Midwest beginning June 18. Stops include Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN; Georgetown, IN; West Lafayette, IN; Chicago, IL; Potosi, MO; Springfield, MO; and Tulsa, OK.

The 96-member choir is made up of high school youth – freshmen to seniors – who provide the music for the church’s 9:00 a.m. worship service every Sunday. Custer Road United Methodist Church is a congregation of approximately 5,500 members from the Plano area, 20 miles north of Dallas.

Under the direction of the Rev. Tim Morrison, this year the choir will present a 60-minute collection of anthems with a theme of Unity in a variety of styles ranging from classical to pop, gospel to South African, and spiritual to traditional. The production includes scripture, choreography, sign language, and drama to showcase the talent and energy of the choir which has traveled throughout the United States over the past 29 years.

Spring Ring XXIII Handbell Expedition
