Kickoff Weekend!

Celebrate Kickoff Weekend!

Join us on Kickoff Sunday on September 11 as we kick-off our new year and celebrate the coming season as a congregation. We will start with worship at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel or 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary or online

Kickoff Weekend begins with a Movie Night on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m. Our worship service on September 11 will connect scripture with music and themes from the musical, Come From Away. Join us at 6:00 p.m. in the gym to view the musical and enjoy a conversation afterwards! About the musical: On September 11, 2001, nearly 7000 people from 38 planes were stranded in the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland after all flights into the U.S. were grounded. While stranded, the people of Gander and the “come from aways” find love, loss, and hope in the aftermath of terror. Youth of all ages are welcome. Come From Away has an age recommendation of 10+.

On Sunday, September 11, we will continue our celebration with Kickoff Day in Fishel Park after our 10:00 a.m. worship service. Everyone is invited to attend this all church event! Food will be available for purchase from Go Doggy Run Hotdog Cart! Enjoy a professional photo booth, games, activities, information booths about church groups, and more. Invite your friends and neighbors, people you know, and people you don’t. This is a great opportunity to spend some time with everyone in our church family and connect with all that’s happening in our congregation as we kick off programs for the church year.

Those coming to Messy Church are invited to join the celebration at any time! We will all be messy together.

Blessing of the Backpacks

Join in celebrating children and youth all over the world at our 10:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, August 21.

Children will provide the music for the service and Pastor John Smoke will give a blessing of the backpacks to get the new school year off to a great start. Children of all ages are asked to bring their backpacks to church for the blessing.

Sunday School and Nursery Care

There will be no Sunday School this week so that families may worship together for Children's Sabbath Sunday/Backpack Blessing.

Care for children under age 3 will be provided in the first-floor nursery during worship.

Children and Youth Choir Meet & Greet

Stop by the Children and Youth Choir Meet and Greet in the North/back parking lot this Sunday following the 10:00 a.m. service until 12:30 p.m.

All children and youth from grades 4 through 12 and their parents are welcome. Meet Nick Loos, who is our new Connection and Chorister Choirs director, and the Chapel Choir director. Choir registration begins on Wednesday, September 14 so this is a great time to learn more about choir from Nick and Pastor John!
