Friday Night at the Movies: The Straight Story

The Straight StoryThe Reverend Fred Conger will present and lead a discussion on the film The Straight Story, a 1999 release starring Richard Farnsworth and Sissy Spacek as 73-year-old Alvin Straight and his mentally-challenged daughter Rose. Learning that his long-estranged brother, Lyle, is seriously ill, Alvin decides it’s time to reconcile. The only problem: Alvin can no longer drive. Undeterred, he sets out on a 260 mile odyssey aboard his 1966 John Deere riding mower and meets and touches the lives of many souls during his six week journey.
