Infant Massage Class for Parents

Do you have a baby 4 months old or younger? Would you like to learn some very gentle massage techniques that will help your baby feel relaxed, secure, and in close connection with you?

The Health and Wellness Ministry Area is sponsoring an Infant Massage class for parents from 4:00-5:00 on Sunday afternoons this summer (June 23, 30, July 7, and 14). Anne Whiting of the Loving Touch infant massage organization will be the leader. Each of the four sessions builds on the other, so it is ideal, but not required, to attend them all.

In order to know if we have enough interest to hold the class, please leave word with Pastor Greta at the church office if you are interested. Parents from outside of our congregation are welcome to attend. A donation will be received for the class; suggested donation is $10 per class, or $30 for all four classes.

Prayer Shawl Ministry Touches Lives

One of the quiet, important ministries in our congregation is the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Two Wednesdays a month, a team of knitters gathers at church to create special, soft and beautiful "prayer shawls," comforting small blankets that can be wrapped around one's shoulders like a shawl, or laid across one's lap. As they knit, they pray for whoever will eventually receive the gift of their work. When a shawl is completed, the group gathers to pray over it, that it would assist in God's work of healing love in the life of the person it will touch.

In the past several months, numerous visits have been made by our congregation's "Caring Connections" volunteers (a branch of the Health and Wellness Work Area) to bring a prayer shawl to someone in our church. The shawls have been very appreciatively received -- as one recipient put it, "...a gift from my church family that will keep my spirit and me warm!"

We want to thank the faithful members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry for their work of love, and for allowing the Caring Connections volunteers to partner with them.

We also want to invite any in the congregation who knit or crochet to join the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Materials are available, and the work can be done with the group at church on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, or at home. For more information, please call Bonnie Lehmann.

If you know anyone in our church family who might benefit from a gift of a prayer shawl, please contact Pastor Greta.

Beyond the Broken Heart: A Journey Through Grief

How does the heart understand grief when it is broken by the death of a loved one? To survive and live forward, those who grieve must find answers.

Beyond the Broken Heart is an eight-week support and ministry program for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Author Julie Yarbrough chronicles her personal experience combined with a deep love of Scripture and years of leading grief support groups to create an authentic and deeply personal study.

Our congregation has endured the loss of many family members and friends over this past year. The Health and Wellness work area invites you to attend this meaningful and informative workshop, facilitated by Terry McDorman, CLM

To sign up for this class please fill in the form below or call the church office at 630.968.7120. There will be a materials fee of $10.
